Bearbull Income Portfolio: Finding yield by going back to basics

Opinion

For decades, Bearbull has been a familiar voice in the world of investing, providing insights and guidance to readers of the Investors’ Chronicle. The column has seen its fair share of changes over the years, with different individuals taking on the mantle of Bearbull. From Harold Wincott to the most recent torchbearer, each has brought their own unique perspective to the world of finance.

About a year ago, there was a changing of the guard as the previous Bearbull, the magazine’s own Bruce Wayne, passed the torch to a new writer – me. Taking on the role of Bearbull comes with its own set of challenges and responsibilities, including a focus on long-term stock ownership and building a dividend-focused portfolio.

The portfolio that I now oversee has a storied history of its own. Launched in 1998 with an initial capital of £100,000, it has weathered the ups and downs of global equity markets over the years. As the world of investing continues to evolve, so too does the approach taken by Bearbull in managing the portfolio.
